TEHRAN -- An Iranian director said on Monday that he plans to track an Iranian traveler on Titanic, the British luxury liner that sank after colliding with an iceberg in the North Atlantic on its maiden voyage.

The story of the film entitled “Titanic 2” will be narrated from the Iranian traveler’s point of view, Ali Atshani told the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency.

The storyline of the film has been written by Mohsen Emamian and Amir-Ali Mohsenin will write the screenplay, he said.

“The film requires a gigantic set to be built and it will take a long time to make the necessary arrangements for the preproduction stage,” Atshani stated.

Shooting will begin in a year, said Atshani, who is currently making the 3D movie “Mr. A.” about an engineer who knows that he will die in the near future, but he does not know the exact time.

Atshani’s credits include “Banana Skin”, “Democracy in the Daylight” and “The President’s Cell Phone”.

Two passengers on the Titanic, American Benjamin O. Lesage and his Iranian wife Shireen, had a rare manuscript of Omar Khayyam’s Rubaiyat, which was approximately 800 years old, in their possession that went down with the ship in 1912.

The French-Lebanese writer Amin Maalouf gave detailed descriptions about the history of the manuscript in his historical novel “Samarkand”, which was published in 1988.
