UNICEF, Farabi Cinematic Foundation sign MOU

TEHRAN -- A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the UNICEF office in Tehran and Iran’s Farabi Cinematic Foundation on Sunday.
 
UNICEF Deputy Representative Mohamed El Munir Safieldin and Farabi Director Ahmad Mir-Alaii signed the agreement during a press conference held in Tehran to explain the program for Iran’s International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults.
 
Mir-Alaii is also the secretary of the festival, which is organized annually by the Farabi Cinematic Foundation. 
 
At the event, Safieldin emphasized the importance of cinema and the movie industry in promoting children’s rights, and its strong influence through entering the minds and hearts of people and society.
 
“UNICEF office in Iran will support the festival by the provision of a UNICEF Award to a film that best represents children’s issues and rights according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC),” Safieldin sadi.
 
Twelve movies will go on screen in the Iranian Film Section. In addition, 50 works have also been lined up for the Animation Section.
 
A foreign lineup comprising 12 features and 25 animated films has been announced for the International Section.
 
The organizers also plan to show “Kolah-Qermezi and Baby” directed by Iraj Tahmasb in open-air screenings for quake-stricken children in East Azarbaijan during the festival.
 
The International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults will be held in Isfahan from October 8 to 13 in Isfahan.
