The translation of the first and second books of Masnavi has been completed and the third book is currently being translated by a prominent Georgian poet, Hojjatollah Ayyubi told the Persian service of IRNA.
A Georgian poet has been commissioned by the foundation to translate the work, he added. However, he gave no name for the poet.
The collection will be published in the country after the translation of the third book is completed, he added.
“Shams of Tabriz and Rumi are among the great names of the Persian literature and enjoy a worldwide fame. It is our duty to familiarize the people of the world with these honorable men,” Ayyubi stated.
“Our foundation plans to support other translations of works by the Persian poet, because there have always been people in the world who are interested in Persian literature and mysticism,” he noted.
Rumi is famous for his lyrics and for his didactic epic Masnavi-ye Manavi (“Spiritual Couplets”), which widely influenced Muslim mystical thought and literature. He also wrote the Divan-i Shams and Fihi ma fihi (“There Is in It What Is in It”).
