Iran, India to boost cooperation on book fairs

TEHRAN -- Iran and India have signed an agreement to boost cooperation on holding international book fairs.
 
The agreement was signed in New Delhi on Sunday between India’s National Book Trust (NBT) and Iran’s Cultural Fairs Institute.
 
A number of Iranian publishers participated in the New Delhi World Book Fair, which was held from February 4 to 10.
 
NBT Director M. A. Sikandar praised the Iranian publishers for their activities during the New Delhi World Book Fair, Iran Cultural Fairs Institute announced in a press release on Monday.
 
The institute offered over 600 books and software in the field of Iranology, children and young adults, and religion during the book fair.
 
New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) has been held for the past 40 years and is now a major calendar event in the publishing world. 
 
The Fair is organized by National Book Trust, India, an apex body of the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development.
 
The Fair is co-organized by India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), the nodal agency of the Government of India, Ministry of Commerce for promoting the country's external trade.  
 
Iran holds the Tehran International Book Fair annually in early May.
