TEHRAN – A pictorial book on the history of Iran after the Islamic Revolution in 1979 was unveiled during a ceremony at the Vahdat Hall on Tuesday.
The unveiling ceremony of “Thirty Years”, began with a speech by a compiler of the book, Reza Taherkhani, who criticized some state-run organizations for their delay in publishing the book.
“What did the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization do in writing the history of Iran after the Islamic Revolution,” he lamented.
Unveiling the book is part of the programs Iran organized for the Ten-Day Dawn celebrations to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. The celebrations have been in progress since January 31 and run through February 10.
Published by the Oj Artistic Media Organization, the book contains about 1400 photos annoted with Persian-English captions. The photos were taken by over 300 photographers between 1979 and 2008.
A team of experts spent five years gathering the photos, which depict political, social and cultural events in Iran over the three decades.
Among the members of the team are Reza Taherkhani, Mohammad Dorudian, Farhad Soleimani, Ahmad Mohit-Tabatabaii, Abbas Mirhashemi and Maryam Jalali.
The book also contains short descriptions of some events. In addition, former culture minister Mohammad-Hossein Saffar Harandi has written a preface to the book.
Photographers Mohammad Sayyad, Mohsen Shandiz, Ali Fereyduni, Kamaleddin Shahrokh, Masud Hosseini and Amir Kholusi were honored during the event.
