TEHRAN -- Iran plans to screen a documentary, which explores Hugo Chavez’s win in the Venezuela’s 2012 presidential election for another term, for the Latin American diplomats in Tehran.

The screening of “In the Name of Freedom” has been arranged by the 31st Fajr International Film Festival, organizers announced on Monday.

Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Musavi spent 40 days making the documentary, which was commissioned by Venezuela.

Diplomats from the embassies of Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Brazil, Cuba, and Nicaragua in Tehran have been invited to watch “In the Name of Freedom” at Milad Tower on February 9.

“We traveled to Venezuela to examine a contradiction:  we saw that (former U.S. president) Jimmy Carter has declared that Venezuela’s electoral system is the best in the world and on the other hand we saw that the right-wing media in the world called Chavez a big dictator,” Musavi previously said.

“Freedom is one of the concepts that have been fabricated since history began. Everybody or every group has used or misused the concept,” he added.

“‘In the Name of Freedom’ is a simple film about a people who pass through the important issue of an election peacefully,” he noted.

Chavez was elected for a fourth term as president of Venezuela with 55.07 percent of the popular vote in October.

“There is less certainty about what happens outside the voting booths,” the Guardian reported.

“The opposition has lodged 110 complaints about alleged abuses of election laws by the Chávez campaign, mostly relating to his domination of airtime on public broadcasting channels, and use of funds, staff and other resources from state-owned enterprises. They also fear that armed militias may put pressure on voters before they go to the polls, though there have been no reports of this to date.”
