TEHRAN -- The director of the Iran Cinema Organization (ICO) said that the organization wants the production of “Winter Train”, an Iran-Poland joint movie project on Polish immigration to Iran during World War II, to begin soon.

“We have provided our share of the necessary funds for the project and we are ready to help the project get started as soon as possible,” Javad Shamaqdari told the Persian service of ISNA on Monday.

“However, there are some problems from the Polish producer,” he added.

Shamaqdari met the Polish producer in Tehran on Sunday. The producer is a member of a Polish delegation that Iran invited to attend the 31st Fajr International Film Festival.

“I hope this meeting helps resolve the problems,” Shamaqdari said

A review of Polish films has been arranged by the organizers of the Fajr festival, which is currently underway in Tehran.

“‘Winter Train’ is about a forgotten part of the history of Poland,” Shamaqdari stated.

“In addition, it explores our people’s hospitality and the humanitarian assistance they gave to the refugees in Iran during World War II when they were suffering from famine,” he added.

The Farabi Cinematic Foundation, which is affiliated with ICO, is the Iranian side in the film project, which will be helmed by Iranian filmmaker Khosro Sinaii.

Farabi has not revealed the name of the Polish producer so far.

The foundation announced last December that shooting of the film would commence in August 2013 in Iran and then would be continued in Poland.
