Anti-war movie “Berlin-7” premieres at Fajr festival

 

Most of the film, directed by Ramtin Lavafipur, has been shot in Berlin with an Iranian-German cast.

 

The film tells the story of Atef whose wife is killed during the war. His son, Kazem, who witnesses his mother’s death, is suffering from a form of mental shock, and his daughter, Najmeh, is arrested by Iraqi forces on suspicion of planning acts of sabotage. 

 

They finally leave their country to seek refuge in Berlin. However, some other problems arise.

 

“Naturally, this film should be made in a country, which was one of the most popular migration destinations of the world,” Lavafipur said during a review session held after the premiere in Milad Tower.

 

“Thus, we chose Berlin, because, due to its specific atmosphere, the city could add something to the film,” he added.

 

He said that the film also observes the cultural conflicts among the people who live in exile.

 

“This film focuses on a nuclear Iraqi family and the misfortunes they have in exile,” producer Siamak Pursharif said at the session.

 

“The film features the view of an Iranian filmmaker on the issue of the Iraq war and it differs from the other films highlighting this subject,” he stated.

 

German actress Karoline Eichhorn and Iranian star Mostafa Zamani also attended the session.

 

“The film is important since its story is on the sense of common humanity,” Eichhorn said.

 

Zamani, who stars as an Iranian living in exile in “Berlin-7”, was warmly welcomed by the audience.

 

“I was happy with the role I played,” he said.

 

“I wanted to increase my experience by acting with foreign members of the cast,” he added.

 

“The film tells the story of people, tired of their adverse conditions, begin searching for hope,” Zamani stated.
