TEHRAN – Iranian poet and translator Musa Bidaj is currently rendering a collection of modern Persian poetry into Arabic.
Works by over 30 poets from various generations have been selected for “The Anthology of Modern Persian Poetry”, he told the Persian service of ISNA on Sunday.
He has held talks with several publishers in the Arab countries to print the collection.
“Arabs know Persian classic poets like Hafez, Ferdowsi, Khayyam and Attar but they do not have much knowledge of modern Persian poetry,” he said.
“A need for an anthology of modern Persian poetry is always felt when Persian poetry is being discussed in the Arab media and press,” he added.
An anthology of Persian poetry, which was translated into Arabic by Bidaj, was published in Kuwait in 2008.
