Fajr filmfest announces foreign lineup for special screenings

TEHRAN – A lineup of foreign films will be screened in the Special Section of the 31st Fajr International Film Festival, organizers announced on Thursday. 
 
Films from 12 countries including Taiwan, Belgium, Iraq and England will be shown in the non-competitive section of the festival, which will open on January 31.
 
Among the movies are “30 Years of Darkness” directed by Manuel H. Martin and “Eva” by Kike Maillo both from Spain, “First Time for Everything” by Leonid Fomin from Russia, “Four Horsemen” by Ross Ashcroft from England, and “ In My Mother’s Arms” by Atia and Mohammed Al-Daraji from Iraq.
 
In addition, “Nuclear Nation” by Atsushi Funahashi from Japan, “The Front Line” by Jang Hoon, and “The Grand Heist” by Joo-ho Kim both from South Korea will go on screen in this section.
 
“The Long Farewell” by Chen Yi-Fen from Taiwan, and the French-Belgian joint production “Approved for Adoption” by Laurent and Boileau Jung are other entries to this section.
 
Iran’s first 3D film “Mr. Alef” directed by Ali Atashani is scheduled to premiere at the festival. 
 
Twenty foreign 3D films including “Ice Age: Continental Drift” by Steve Martino and Mike Thurmeier, “The Chronicles of Narnia” by Michael Apted, “How to Train Your Dragon Dean DeBlois” by Chris Sanders and “Kung Fu Panda 2” by Jennifer Yuh are also scheduled to be shown at this event.
