Fajr theater festival announces intl. competition lineup

TEHRAN -- The 31st Fajr International Theater Festival announced the lineup for the international competition on Saturday.
 
Twenty four Iranian and foreign troupes will be performing in this section of the festival, which will begin in Tehran on January 15.
 
Among the plays that will be staged during the event are “The Woman Rushed under the Train” by director Mehriban Alekperzadeh from Azerbaijan, “Seven Plus 7” by Eric Deniaud from Lebanon, “The Tempest” by Lorella Serni and Duccio Barlucchi from Italy.
 
In addition, “King Ubu” by Zoltan Balazs from Hungary, “Hotel Splendid” by Chung-euy Park from South Korea and “DesdeMONA” by Anatoly Frusin and Jolanta Juszkiewicz, from Australia are other entries to this section.
 
Omid Niaz from Iran and Guglielmo Papa from Italy will jointly direct “1+1” in this section. In addition, Iran’s Nassim Adabipur and Switzerland’s Niklaus Helbling will stage “Tell/Zahhak”.
 
Some plays by the Iranian theater troupes will also be performed in the section.
 
Among the plays are “When Woody Allen Prefers Madame Bouvarie” by Atefeh Tehrani, “Hamlet” by Reza Guran and “Woyzeck” by Reza Servati.
 
The festival will run until January 31.
