TEHRAN -- Iranian playwright/director Farhad Tajvidi has borrowed characters from some world-renowned stories to write his latest play “Tell a Lie Pinocchio”.

Hamlet, Scheherazade, Don Quixote and other characters will appear in the play, Tajvidi told the Persian service of ISNA on Friday.

“They are caught in a storm and swallowed by a whale. Little by little, they feel cold, but they find nothing to burn. They ask Pinocchio to tell lie to provide firewood from his nose,” he said.

Tajvidi also plans to stage the play at the 31st Fajr International Theater Festival in Tehran, which will be held in Tehran from January 15 to February 2.

“I will blend the postmodern and traditional styles in the performing arts to stage the play… Theatergoers will watch the play with anxiety and fear, as if in a dream, and the feeling of being a poet,” he stated.

An all-student cast will perform the play.

Among the members of the cast are Giti Qasemi, Mohammad-Ali Hosseinalipur, Mehdi Qaheri, Mitra Ziaiikia, Hossein Purkarimi, Fatemeh Shah-Hosseini, Amir Ojaqi, Amir Bani-Jamali, Zohreh Salimi, Somayyeh Ansari, Soheila Mohqqeq, Faranak Jalili, and Morteza Hosseini.
