TEHRAN -- Iran has invited literati from the Persian-speaking countries to the 7th Fajr International Poetry Festival.

“The Persian language was the official spoken language in India for 900 years. Thus, literati from the country and the Central Asian countries have been invited to the event,” festival secretary Reza Hamidi said in a press release on Saturday.

“Literati from some European countries like Poland have applied to participate in the festival, but they must travel to Iran on their own expense based on the new arrangements for this year’s festival,” he added.

The festival will be held in February 2013 in a city, which will be announced later, he stated.

He said that the closing ceremony of the event will be held at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.

Applicants can submit their poems on the website of the festival, which can be found at www.fajrpoem.ir.
