TEHRAN -- Iranian films “The Last Step” and “My Tribe” are competing in the 17th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), which is currently underway in Thiruvananthapuram.

Directed by Ali Mosaffa, “The Last Step” is an entry in the World Competition section.

The film is about Leila, a movie superstar who is mourning over the loss of her husband. On the set of her film, she suddenly finds herself totally powerless to control her laughter before the camera and no one could ever guess the reason behind the hysteria that began at the scene of her husband’s death.

This film won the Love and Psyche Prize at the MedFilm Festival in Rome in October.

The film’s star, Leila Hatami, won the Best Actress Award for her portrayal of Leila at the 47th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in Czech Republic in July.

“My Tribe” directed by Gholamreza Azadi has its world premiere in the World Cinema section of the festival, which runs December 14.

The film tells the life story of a filmmaker in Isfahan.
