Films from 66 countries submitted to Iran’s New Horizon

TEHRAN -- New Horizon, Iran’s international festival for independent filmmakers, has received submissions from 66 countries for its first edition, which will be held in Tehran from September 2 to 5. 
 
A total of 850 movies have been submitted to the secretariat of the festival so far, the deputy director of the festival Mohammad Tayyeb said during a press conference on Tuesday.
 
Over 200 of the submissions are from the U.S., Britain and Spain, he added.
 
Filmmakers from Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, India, Greece, Denmark and Hong Kong have been invited to the event.
 
The focus of the first edition of the festival is films with the theme of movements against social and political injustice in the world.
 
Films highlighting the Occupy Wall Street movement, the Islamic Awakening, Islamic resistance against the Zionist regime and the Islamic Revolution of Iran are the festival’s first priority.
