The cash prizes were scheduled to be given to three best works created during the workshops, which were organized by Tehran’s Arya Gallery.
However, a jury composed of Marovino and Iranian sculptor Behruz Darash decided to share the prizes among all artists, who attended the workshops, Arya announced in a press release on Wednesday.
The workshops were held at Saba Sang, a stone cutting company located near Tehran’s International Imam Khomeini Airport.
The works created at the workshops were in the same level from the artistic point of view, Darash said during a closing ceremony of the workshops.
The ceremony went on with a speech by Marovino. He said that Iran enjoys an ancient tradition of making sculptures with stone however it is neglected through centuries.
The created sculptures are currently on display at a stone sculpture garden, which was established at Saba Sang.
Marovino, 43, studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Carrara. He has previously participated in many international events and also held numerous exhibits in his homeland and several other countries including Germany, France, Poland and England.
He participated in the 1st Tehran International Sculpture Symposium in February 2007.
