TEHRAN – A number of art luminaries and artists were honored during the closing ceremony of the 7th Fajr International Festival of Visual Arts held at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on Tuesday.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati, Director of the Center for Visual Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance Majid Mollanoruzi, and Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Ali Moradkhani, Persian media reported.
Calligrapher Abbas Akhavein, photographer Seifollah Samadian, miniaturist Ardeshir Mojarrad, ceramist Maryam Salur and cartoonist Gholamali Latifi were among the luminaries honored at the ceremony.
Also included were graphic designer Qobad Shiva, painter Mehdi Hosseini, sculptor Malek-Dadyar Garusian and illustrator Ali-Akbar Sadeqi.
Graphic designer Bijan Seifuri, ceramist Rasul Jalili, photographer Amir-Ali Javadian and sculptor Reza Lavasani were the honorees of the visual art section.
In addition, several organizations and art institutes were honored at the ceremony.
Iran’s Graphic Design Association was selected as the best association, while Damonfar Painting Biennial was honored as the best artistic event.
Other organizations included Tehran Municipality’s Beautification Organization.
Former secretary of the festival Abbas Mirhashemi was also honored at the ceremony.
The festival ran from February 3 to March 3 in different art centers across Tehran.
