Tehran animation festival announces international lineup

TEHRAN – A selection of 19 animated movies from international directors are scheduled to go on screen in the international section of the 9th Tehran International Animation Festival, the organizers announced on Tuesday.
 
“Rabbit and Deer” by Peter Vacz from Hungary, “Wind” by Robert Lobel from Germany, “Dog” by Marc Riba and Anna Solanas from Spain, “The Missing Scarf” by Eoin Duffy from Ireland, “The Wires” by Tatiana Moshkova and Marina Moshkova from Russia, and “Rabbitland” by Ana Nedeljkovic and Nikola Majdak from Serbia are among the highlights of the lineup.
 
Also included are “Kali, the Little Vampire” by Regina Pessoa from Portugal, “Bear Story” by Gabriel Antonio from Chile, and “The Rose of Turaida” by Ryan Grobins from Australia.
 
Over 130 works have been chosen to go on screen in Iran’s main competition section of the festival, which will be held from March 8 to 12.
 
Russian animator Aleksandr Petrov, who won the Academy Award for Animated Short Film in 1999 for his “The Old Man and the Sea”, has been invited to hold workshops during the festival.
 
The animations are scheduled to go on screen in seven different theaters across the city.
