“Rainbow Island” goes on screen in Poznan
TEHRAN – Iranian director Khosro Sinaei’s latest film, “The Rainbow Island”, is scheduled to be screened at the Imperial Palace Cultural Center in Poznan, Poland on March 2.
 
The film is about an artist living on Hormoz Island in the Persian Gulf. He tries to promote cultural issues on the island to attract tourists to the place.
 
Sinaei received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Poland in 2008 for “The Lost Requiem”, a documentary about the wartime Polish exodus from the Soviet labor camps of Siberia to Iran. 
 
He was also granted the Gloria Artis medal by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in May, 2011.
 
 
All-female pop band to perform at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall  
TEHRAN – The all-female Iranian pop band, Setareye Qotbi (Polaris), will give concerts at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on February 25 and 26.
 
A repertoire of Persian, English, French, Arabic and Hindi songs will be performed during the concerts.
 
Led by Bahareh Ilchi, the band is composed of graduates from music academies who made their debut performance in 2009.
 
 
Tehran university hosts conference on linguistics
TEHRAN – The 9th Iranian Conference on Linguistics will be held at the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages of Allameh Tabatabai University on Tuesday and Wednesday.
 
The event has been organized by Allameh Tabatabai University, the Iranian Academy of Persian Language and Literature, the Linguistics Society of Iran and the Sadi Foundation.
