TEHRAN -- Iran has donated a collection of books containing a comprehensive bibliography of manuscripts, which are kept at libraries and other centers, to the Lenin State Library in Moscow.

The director of the Iranian Studies Foundation in Moscow, Mohsen Heidarnia, presented the 12-volume bibliography to Lenin State Library Director General Viktor Fyodorov during a ceremony, which was held at the library on Thursday.

This donation is a sign of good relations between Iran and Russia, Fyodorov said after receiving the bibliography.

“Iran has been a producer of knowledge since ancient times so there are many manuscripts in our country,” Heidarnia said.

He said that Iran also expects Russians to introduce their manuscripts to Iranian researchers.

The collection, which is compiled and published by Iran’s Majlis Research Center, contains details of about 300,000 manuscripts, which are kept in Iranian libraries and studies centers.

Located in Moscow, the Lenin State Library is one of the largest libraries in Europe and one of the greatest libraries in the world.

The library provides information concerning bibliographical projects that are being done at the country’s largest libraries. A broad range of research, methodological and bibliographical projects are carried out by the research department of library science and bibliographical theory, and other departments of the library.
