Leader offers condolences over death of poet Moshfeq Kashani

TEHRAN -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has offered his condolences over the death of poet Abbas Kaymanesh, who wrote under the penname Moshfeq Kashani.
 
The following is the text of the Leader’s condolence message, which was published on his website on Tuesday:
 
“I offer my condolences over the death of the distinguished composer of odes, Mr. Moshfeq Kashani, to his respected family, the community of Iranian literati, his students and fans.
 
“In addition to his charming and fine poems, his high morale, humane personality and commitment to the principles of the revolution were among the characteristics that had caused me to be fond of this noble and pious man over the thirty years of close relationship with him. God bless him.”
 
Moshfeq Kashani, who is considered one of the restorers of Persian classical poetry, died of heart failure while reading a poem during a session in Tehran on Sunday evening. He was 89.       
 
He was the composer of over ten collections of poems and books, including “Ballade of Life”, “Memoires”, “Wine of Sun”, “Lightening”, “The Mirror of Imagination”, “The Red Spring of Ballade”, and “The Mystery of Winter”.
