Tazieh is a form of ancient Iranian passion play, telling Shias’ epic tales particularly in memory of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (S).
The performances have been organized to commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions.
The group led by Ali Yahyaii has been invited from Khansar, Isfahan Province.
A collection of rare versions of tazieh scripts will also be showcased in an exhibition at the center during the ten-day period.
Some scripts in the collection, which belongs to Yahayii, date back to 120 to 200 years ago.
Tazieh was registered on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010.
