TEHRAN -- A delegation of executives from Central China Television (CCTV), led by CCTV Deputy Editor-in-Chief Cheng Hong, arrived in Iran on Saturday to meet a number of Iranian media officials.

The delegation met Deputy Culture Minister for Press Affairs Hossein Entezami on Sunday, the Persian service IRNA reported.

“Establishing relations between media that feel cultural affinities could improve relations between the countries that are the owners of the media,” Entezami said at the meeting.

Cheng Hong said that the CCTV always takes three criteria of justice, realism and optimism into consideration in disseminating news.

“The TV avoids disseminating politically biased attitudes and promotes common interests and interaction with all countries particularly with Iran,” he added.

He criticized Western media for giving a bad image of Iran and said that CCTV welcomes any plan to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting and other Iranian media.

CCTV is the predominant state television broadcaster in mainland China. It has a network of 45 channels broadcasting different programs and is accessible to more than one billion viewers.
