TEHRAN – The deputy editor of the Serbian daily newspaper Politika, Petar Milatovic, has expressed interest in publishing articles on the Persian poet Molana Jalal ad-Din Rumi (1207-1273).

Milatovic made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian cultural attaché in Belgrade Mahmud Shaluii, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Saturday.

He said that Iran’s cultural office can provide the daily with comprehensive information on the poet, and the daily is ready to dedicate one column to the poet and his magnum opus Masnavi-ye Manavi.

Milatovic also praised Persian poets and literati for their sweet and pleasant words, and said that this is a good chance to introduce their pure thoughts.

Warmly receiving the deputy’s proposal, Shaluii called Rumi a poet whose sweet Persian poetry has attracted the world attention.

Founded in 1904, Politika is the oldest daily newspaper still in circulation in the Balkans.
