TEHRAN – “Final Whistle”, an Iranian drama on social and private life interactions, is competing at the International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg in Germany.
Directed by Niki Karimi, the movie is scheduled to be screened in the international section of the festival, which runs until November 18.
“Final Whistle” is about a documentarian couple Sahar and Saman, who have their calm life disrupted. Sahar is informed that one of their cast members faces a death sentence due to a murder charge. She then begins to convince the relatives of the decedent to overturn the sentence.
“Final Whistle” won three awards at the 18th FICA -- Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in February 2012.
The film won the Emile Guimet Award, which was granted by the Friends of the National Museum of Asian Arts of Paris.
The National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations in Paris also presented Karimi with the Jury Award.
In addition, the film received the Youth Award at the Commune of Vesoul.
