“Today” competing in Moroccan festival 
 
TEHRAN -- The Iranian drama “Today” is going on screen at the 19th Rabat Auteur Film Festival, which is currently underway in Morocco.
 
Directed by Seyyed Reza Mirkarimi, “Today” is about an aging taxi driver who takes a pregnant young woman to the hospital at the end of his workday, not knowing what awaits him there.
 
The festival began on October 24 and runs until November 1.
 
 
“Parviz” coming to Iranian theaters
 
TEHRAN – The acclaimed Iranian film “Parviz” directed by Majid Barzegar will go on screen in Iranian movie theaters on November 7.
 
The film has won several prizes in foreign festivals including the Golden Crow Pheasant Award for the Best Film at the 18th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) and the Silver Apricot at the 10th Golden Apricot International Film Festival in Yerevan, Armenia in 2013.
 
The film is about Parviz, a man in his fifties who has lived his entire life in his father’s home and has never had a job. His quiet routine suddenly comes apart when his father decides to remarry and tells him to move out.
 
 
IFFS to honor Iranian documentarian Kamran Shirdel
 
TEHRAN – The International Federation of Film Society (IFFS) plans to honor Iranian documentarian Kamran Shirdel with a lifetime achievement.
 
The society will present the award during the IFFS general assembly, which will be held on Sardinia Island in Italy from December 9 to 14, Shirdel told the Persian service of MNA.
 
Since the mid-1960s, Shirdel has made bold documentary films that address everyday issues of his native Iran, influencing an entire generation of contemporary Iranian filmmakers.
