TEHRAN –
An exhibition of unique hand-woven carpets by Iranian carpet designer and weaver Razi Miri opened at the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) on Monday.

The Japanese ambassador to Tehran, Koji Haneda, and German expert in Persian carpets Peter Renz attended the opening ceremony of the exhibit entitled “Scenes of Persian Paradise, an Odyssey of Warp and Weft”, the IAF announced in a press release on Tuesday.

“I held an exhibit at the forum last year, however this exhibit is a larger one accompanied with a series of workshops and seminars,” Razi Miri said during the ceremony.

“Peter Renz has been cooperating with us for about 40 years. He has held several exhibits in Germany and has only concentrated on Persian rugs,” Miri added.

The Miri family began to produce carpets in 1989 and has always been seeking designs and colors which had gone into oblivion, Renz said at the ceremony.

The family has tried to produce carpets of higher quality to prevent Persian carpets from ruination, and these carpets are highly praised by experts and collectors, Renz added.

The exhibit has been divided into six scenes; Miri’s creations and antique pieces are on display in two galleries of the forum.

“The Knot”, an exhibition of paintings portraying women weaving carpets by Nazanin Miri has also been put on show.

A group exhibition of photos featuring life, carpets and people taken by the Miri brothers, a seminar and three documentaries about Persian carpets have also been arranged in different sections of the exhibit, which runs until August 30 at the forum located on Musavi St., off Taleqani Ave.
