TEHRAN --
Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Managing Director Ezzatollah Zarghami has received a written notification from the Supervision Council of IRIB about a massive increase in commercials for lotteries that Iranian companies hold among consumers of their productions.

Members of the council, which is composed of representatives of the legislature, executive and the judiciary, underlined the need for immediate modification of the commercials.

In the notification, the council has criticized the commercials for “creating an unfair advertising atmosphere, promoting materialistic attitudes.”

It also said that the commercials are against spiritual values and “encourage the spirit of idleness instead of working and struggle.”

In most of the commercials aired on IRIB channels, companies promote their products by lotteries in which winners receive luxury cars or big cash prizes.

The council also criticized the TV advertisements for promoting the symbols of the Western lifestyle, depicting women with a feministic attitude, and using them as objects.
