Doha festival to screen “Children of Heaven”

TEHRAN -- The Iranian Oscar-nominated feature “Children of Heaven” will go on screen at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF), which will be held from November 17 to 24.
 
Directed by Majid Majidi, the movie is in the lineup for the Beach Screenings section of the festival. 
 
“Cinema Paradiso” by Guiseppe Tornatore (Italy), “E.T.” by Steven Spielberg (U.S.), Ahmed El Maanouni’s “Trances” (Morocco) and “The Brave Hearted Will Take the Bride” by Aditya Chopra (India) are the films in the lineup.
 
 
Majidi’s third feature-length film “Children of Heaven” (1997) was Iran’s first Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film. The movie was acclaimed in many international events.
 
The movie tells the story of a boy from a poor family who must share his shoes with his sister since their father can’t afford another pair. He makes an all-out effort to place in a running competition in order to win second prize, a pair of shoes, for his sister.
 
The DTFF is part of the Doha Film Institute’s year round initiatives dedicated to creating a film culture and industry in Qatar.
