TEHRAN – Two Iranian documentaries about the uprisings that hit Arab countries over the past five years will compete in the 10th Kazan International Festival of Muslim Cinema, which will be held from September 5 to 11 in Tatarestan.
The documentaries are “Eyes” directed by Mohammadreza Fartusi and “Cinema Awakening” by Habib Bavi-Sajed.
“Eyes” chronicles the Yemen uprising by interviewing the young Yemeni war photographer Nadia Abdullah, who witnesses the revolutionary days of her country.
Algeria, Jordan, Egypt and Yemen are the Arab countries, which followed the wave of unrest in Tunisia in December 2010.
The other documentary “Cinema Awakening” explores the impact of cinema on revolutions in Arab countries. The documentary includes several interviews with Arab cineastes.
Both of the films are produced by Art Bureau of Iran’s Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization.
