
The a cappella ensemble, which is led by conductor Milad Omranlu, gave a performance in the Mixed Chamber Choirs section on Wednesday.
It is scheduled to perform in the Popular Choral Music section today and the last concert of the group will be in the Folklore section tomorrow.
Over 480 ensembles from 60 countries are competing in the World Choir Games, which opened on July 9 and will end on Saturday.
A different country is selected each year to host the World Choir Games, which is known as the Olympics for choirs.
The World Choir Games, which were held in China in July 2010, honored the Tehran ensemble with a silver medal in the Folklore section and a bronze medal in the Mixed Chamber Choirs section.
The Tehran Vocal Ensemble has been honored at several other prestigious events worldwide.
The group won a gold medal at the Mixed Chamber Choirs section and a silver medal at the Folklore section of the 2nd Asian Choir Games in South Korea in July 2009.
In September 2009, the ensemble received a gold medal in the Mixed Choir Category of the 11th International Folksong Choir Festival in Barcelona.
In addition, it won a Golden Diploma from Italy’s 8th International Choir Competition and Festival of Jazz, Gospel, Pop and Secular, and Sacred Music in October 2009.
