TEHRAN – A large group of Iranian thespians, directors and other stage artists condemned the Israeli crimes in Gaza in a statement, which was issued by the Center for Dramatic Arts on Wednesday.
“The residents of this free land are not an indifferent and heartless audience. They show their deep loathing for all those behind this scenario, and feel that they share in the deep sorrow and epic resistance of the oppressed people of Gaza,” reads a part of the statement.
“Gaza is not just a piece of land; it is a repetition of the isolation of an oppressed generation over the years. It is a scene filled with unfinished confrontation of right and peace with arrogance and violence,” it continues.
Hossein Mosafer-Astaneh, Mahmud Azizi, Hossein Parsaii, Mehdi Shafiei, Shahram Karami, Parsia Moqtadi, Pari Saberi and Mahmud Farhang are among the theatrical figures who signed the statement.
Moreover, a large group of Iranian cineastes asked the United Nations to stop the terrorist acts committed by the al-Qaida-inspired Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and the Israeli crimes in Gaza.
The request was made by over 160 cineastes in an open letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday.
