Tahmineh Milani on Turkish festival panel

TEHRAN -- Iranian filmmaker Tahmineh Milani has been selected for the jury of the international section at the 3rd Malatya International Film Festival (MIFF), organizers have announced on the festival’s website.
 
Indian writer and film critic Aruna Vasudev, Germany-based Polish director of the Hamburg Film Festival Albert Wiederspiel, and Palestinian writer and director Süha Arraf are the other members of the jury.
 
The MIFF, which will take place in the Turkish central city from November 9 to 15, is scheduled to hold a review of Milani’s films. 
 
Milani, 51, has been labeled as the feminist filmmaker of Iranian cinema due to her women-centered films.
 
Her credits include “Children of Divorce”, “The Legend of Ah”, “Two Women”, “The Hidden Half”, “The Fifth Reaction” “What Else Is New?”, “Kakadu”, “The Unwanted Woman” (also Known as “The Extra Woman”), “Cease-Fire”, “Payback”, and “One of Us Two”.
 
Her “Superstar” won the Best Actor Crystal Simorgh of the 27th Fajr Film Festival for Shahab Hosseini in 2009.
 
Milani was on the jury of the third annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in 2009.
