TEHRAN -- A seminar on the connection between poetry and music in Greek and Iranian cultures was held at the Iranian cultural attaché’s office in Athens on Monday.
Iranian Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi, Iranian Ambassador Behnam Behruz, Iranian cultural attaché Mohammad-Hossein Mozaffari, Professor Angelos Moschopoulos and a number of Greek musicians and experts attended the seminar, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Tuesday.
Iran and Greece enjoy a variety of unique musical instruments, Professor Moschopoulos said during a brief speech.
Utilizing works of the great poets makes the musical pieces more lively, he added.
He said that collaboration between the great maestros of the traditional music in the two countries will be help struggle against the invasion of the Western music, which has begun over the past few decades.
Iran and Greece have used their epic and spiritual poems in music throughout different historical periods, Moschopoulos stated.
He also urged cultural officials to familiarize people with affinities of the two nations.
Shahabadi also addressed the audience and said holding such seminars would help the two nations become familiar with their cultural commonalities.
