The play will go on stage on May 18 during the festival, which will be held from May 16 to 24.
Inspired by one of Khayyam’s poems, the play is about three soldiers who decide to cease fighting in an unknown land. To express themselves, they begin making sculptures with mud.
The festival’s website described “Count to one” as “a quiet play in an Oriental style” and “a daring anti-war statement”.
Fatemeh Abbasi, Reza Abbaspur, Reza Bahrami, Hossein Divandari and Mehdi Shahpiri will be the puppeteers.
The festival will host 24 artists and groups from Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Russia, Iran, Belarus and Germany that have been invited to appear at FIDENA 2014.
