TEHRAN -- The Iranian director Tahmineh Milani has said that she plans to make three other sequels to her box office hit “Ceasefire”.
She has recently completed the second follow-up to the psychodrama and has applied for a screening license from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Saturday.
“I plan to continue making three more sequels to the film,” she said and added, “I hope the fifth sequel will be on politics.”
Starring Mohammadreza Golzar and Mahnaz Afshar, the first sequel was produced in 2006 and broke box office records in Iran.
It was about a young couple who were seeking a divorce, but ended up realizing that they just needed to face their inner child to overcome their problems.
Milani wrote the screenplay for “Ceasefire” based on American writer and art therapist Lucia Capacchione’s “Recovery of Your Inner Child”.
“Ceasefire 2” is about the encounter of a young educated couple with their former family counselor after some years, during which the couple reviews their lives and some of the dramatic events that happened over the past years.
“This film is full of perceptions for lives of modern youth and is also about conceptual happiness,” Milani said.
She expressed her satisfaction with the cast for the film and said that Atila Pesyani will play the character of the psychiatrist in the sequels.
Bahram Radan, Mitra Hajjar, Mehraneh Mahin-Torabi and Pejman Jamshidi also star in the film.
