TEHRAN – A series of programs have been arranged to mark Iran’s National Ferdowsi Day, which will be on May 15 this year.
Arranged by the Ferdowsi Foundation in collaboration with several other organizations, several experts on epic poet Abulqasem Ferdowsi (940-1020), and experts on naqqali are due to be honored during a six-day program (May 12 to 17), the Persian service of ILNA reported on Saturday.
Naqqali is a style of storytelling dedicated to epic stories from Ferdowsi’s masterpiece Shahnameh.
An exhibition of artworks by master of miniature Mohammad-Baqer Aqamiri, and paintings by Kiumars Qurchian will open in the Qasr Garden Museum on May 14.
Experts on naqqali will be honored during a ceremony in Tehran’s City Theater Complex on May 16.
In addition, expert on Shahnameh Qadamali Sarami and composer of Ferdowsi Symphony Shahin Farhat are among the scholars to be honored.
Morshed (mentor) Sirvan Noruzi and naqqal Mojtaba Hassan-Beigi will also have performances at the Rostamabad Cultural House in the Farmanieh neighborhood on May 17.
