TEHRAN -- The Iranian theater troupe Kotal plans to go on stage at festivals in Turkey and Azerbaijan.
The Tabriz-based troupe will perform “The Little Black Fish” at the 8th Ethos Ankara International Theatre Festival, which will be held from March 18 to 28 in Ankara.
Jamal Saqinejad, Saeideh Hamed and Shadi Amiri will star in the play, director Yaqub Seddiq-Jamali told the Persian service of IRNA on Saturday.
“The Little Black Fish” is based on a children’s short story of the same name by the Iranian author Samad Behrangi.
The story is told through the voice of an old fish speaking to her 12,000 children and grandchildren. She describes the journey of a small black fish, which leaves the safety of the local stream to venture into the world.
The group will also stage “Bone Opera” at the Bizim Teatr, an Azerbaijani children’s theater festival, which will be held in Baku from March 27 to 29.
Both plays are performed without dialogue and are based on music and body language, Seddiq-Jamali stated.
