TEHRAN – The new album by vocalist Homayun Shajarian, and composer and string instrumentalist Tahmures Purnazari, “Neither Angel nor Devil Am I”, has been released by Iran-Gaam, a major Iranian music distributor.
Shajarian and Purnazari attended a meeting at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on Tuesday to unveil the album.
“The album is the outcome of a three-year joint effort by Tahmures Purnazeri and me,” Shajarian said at the meeting.
He said that Purnazeri recorded the pieces on the album with musicians from various countries.
String instrumentalist Sohrab Purnazeri, Tahmures’ brother, has also collaborated with the group in the recording of the album.
“Prominent musicians from across the world worked together in the production of the album and Tahmures and I are proud of this group effort,” Sohrab said.
“We crossed the world to produce this album,” Tahmures said.
The U.S. composer David K. Garner, Indian sitar virtuoso Shujaat Husain Khan, Venezuelan flautist Pedro Eustache and U.S. blues guitarist Jimmy Johnson collaborated with Purnazeri in this album.
Musicians and artists Keikhosro Purnazeri, Alireza Qorbani, Bijan Kamkar, Najmeh Tajaddod, Dariush Pirniakan and Hadi Montazeri attended the ceremony.
