TEHRAN – Tehran will be greeting the Iranian New Year with new murals and paintings.
Organized by Tehran Municipality’s Beautification Organization, a number of artists have been commissioned to refresh or renew the paintings and murals in different districts of Tehran, the organization announced in a press release on Wednesday.
Simple and minimal designs that are coordinated with their environment have been chosen for the walls across the city, an official from the organization Mehdi Qadyanlu said.
Over 40 artists will be completing their projects before March 18, he said, adding that they are free to choose their colors but they must use the colors in ways consistent with the environment.
“Tehran is too large to embrace many different types of designs, but we are determined to achieve a visual standard,” he said.
He added that most of the artists have been selected by the organization due to their previous collaborations. However, some have been recommended by the Iran’s Painters Association.
