TEHRAN -- Iranian actors Farhad Aiish and Ali Nasirian have come together again in “Seven Nights with an Uninvited Guest in New York”, which is currently on stage at the Chaharsu Hall of Tehran’s City Theater Complex.

They had worked together in “Windows”, which was staged at the complex in 2005.

“It is great to be beside Mr. Nasirian again,” said Aiish, who also directs the play, in a press conference on Monday.

The play was born about 19 year ago, when Aiish lived in the United States. On his trip to U.S., he asked Nasirian to join him in performing the play in the country.

“Seven Nights with an Uninvited Guest in New York” is about a man who lives in New York. He is a surrealist intellectual who has reached a complete deadlock in modernity and is on the verge of killing himself. Meanwhile, an uninvited guest of a simple nature comes from Iran to visit him.

“I wrote the play based on the acting characters of Nasirian and me, and our past in the world of art,” Aiish said.

They had performed the play in the United States and several other countries a year after he completed writing the play. They also staged the play at the main hall of Tehran’s City Theater Complex at the time.

The play was brought to a temporary halt for three nights after Nasirian fell and broke his arm when he was leaving the theater on Sunday.

Nasirian, 78, will appear on the stage tonight with his arm in a cast.

Nasirian’s character in this play is similar to the character he played in “Mr. Simpleton”, directed by Daruish Mehrjuii in 1970, Aiish said.

“This play, both in the story and in the performance, presents the reconciliation between two generations,” he stated

“I am always interested in regards to the big philosophical questions I have in my mind, taking them from the depth to surface and laughing at them,” the 62-year-old actor/director said.
