TEHRAN – Jean Pierre Thibaudat, the art director of the Festival Passages in Nancy, France, said that the festival is keen to host theater troupes from Iran during its next edition in 2015.
Thibaudat, who has been invited to the 32nd Fajr International Theater Festival (January 24-February 1), met Iranian Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Ali Moradkhani on Saturday, the department for Artistic Affairs said in a press release.
He said that the Passages biennial is being held in Metz, France, and different troupes from across the world have been invited to the festival.
He added that the organizers would like Iranian troupes to perform both their traditional and modern performances during the festival.
Thibaudat, who had seen several performances by Iranian troupes during the Fajr festival, believed that the performances were of good quality.
Iran has several number of theater festivals, Moradkhani said, adding that there are plans to organize more festivals to be run by the private sector.
International Traditional and Ritual Theater Festival, Tehran International Puppet Theater Festival (Mobarak), and provincial festivals are among the theatrical events being held in Iran annually, Moradkhani said.
He also invited Jean Pierre Thibaudat to attend the 29th Fajr International Music Festival, which will be held in Tehran from February 13 to 20.
