TEHRAN -- President Hassan Rouhani has offered his condolences over the death of Kazem Motamednejad, who is the father of Iran’s communication sciences.

“I offer my condolences over the death of the great master Dr. Kazem Motamednejad to his children, relatives, students, communication and development scholars, and the scientific and cultural community of the country,” he wrote in a message, which was published on Persian news agencies’ websites on Friday.

“His great services for the development of communication sciences and journalism in Iran are everlasting and praiseworthy forever,” he added.

Motamednejad, a professor of social and communication sciences at Tehran’s Allameh Tabatabaei University, died at the age of 79 on Thursday. He had suffered from Parkinson’s disease for years.

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati, Tehran City Council Chairman Ahmad Masjed-Jamei and several other Iranian officials also sent messages of condolence.
