TEHRAN – An exhibition entitled “Folie à deux”, which includes works by German artist Martin Werthmann, is scheduled to open at Tehran’s Etemad Gallery on September 28.

Werthmann’s installation “Diamond Breathing Machine”, a laboratory setting which is used to isolate the carbon out of one’s breath and then press it into a diamond, will be set up at the exhibition.

In addition, he has produced a new series of large scale woodblock prints exclusively for this exhibit.

“His often large-scale installations seem straight forward when first encountered but upon closer examination, their complexities become apparent. Werthmann’s approach can be described as part science and part alchemy as installations take on an experimental ethos from which results are revealed during the course of an exhibition,” organizer said on the gallery’s website.

Werthman currently lives and works in Berlin. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg under Andreas Slominski and later on with Wim Wenders, Fatih Akin, and Daniel Richter.

The exhibit will run until October 9 at the gallery located at 5 Shahrzad Blvd., off Zafari Ave., Yarmohammadi St., in the Darus neighborhood.
