Goethe Institute to honor Iranian translator Mahmud Hosseinizad

TEHRAN -- The Iranian winner of Goethe Medal 2013, Seyyed Mahmud Hosseinizad, will be honored during a ceremony in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin on September 6.
 
Organized by the Goethe Institute, the ceremony will be held at the Minna-Kauer Hall.
 
Some of the German books translated by Hosseinizad into Persian will be read during the event, which will be followed by a review session.
 
Hosseinizad received a Goethe Medal for his contributions to German literature in Iran in Berlin on August 28.
 
“He levels the way of words with discretion and sensitivity, and enables cultural and personal encounters that awaken and intensify mutual understanding between people in Iran and in Germany,” said the jury of the Goethe Medal about Hosseinizad. 
 
Since 2000, Hosseinizad has translated several books by German authors including Judith Hermann, lngo Schulze, Uwe Timm, Peter Stamm and Julia Franck.
