CHTHO Director Mohammad-Sharif Malekzadeh attended the opening ceremony of the Museum of Islamic Luminaries on Wednesday.
The museum is a good resource for future generations to get to know the Islamic luminaries better, Malekzadeh said.
A collection of busts of religious figures such as Ayatollah Mohammad-Taqi Bahjat, Ayatollah Rahim Arbab, and scholar and astronomer Sheikh Bahaii are on display at the museum.
The busts have been created by six Iranian sculptors, CHTHO’S Office for Registration, Preservation and Restoration of Intangible Cultural and Natural Heritage Director Atusa Momeni said in a press release on Saturday.
She did not refer to the names of the sculptors.
All the busts are brown in color and are on display in an area with subdued lighting.
Metal plaques bearing a brief introduction to each figure have also been installed beside the busts.
Momeni said that the museum will be enriched by sculptures of other luminaries in the near future.
